TRENTON?- Gus Smith,?Derek MacLean and Kirk Harris each scored two goals as the Pictou County Scotians defeated the Cumberland County Cool Blues 6-3 in Nova Scotia Junior?Hockey League action here last night.
David Burke, Justin?Cortes and Seth Crowe replied for the Blues, who clinched both the division crown and regular season banner two nights earlier in Springhill.
"We had a lot of guys not playing but the guys who did play didn't have a lot of intensity," Blues' coach Ron Reynolds said. "The fact we clinched had bearing in it but regardless you still have to come and play. As a coach, I'm glad we clinched first place but I'm disappointed in our last two performances."
Cortes, Murray Bavis, Matt Carroll, Mark Rozak and Cody Firth added assists.
Tyler Collins made his debut with the Blues last night. The Springhill native signed with the club earlier in the day.
On Friday, the Blues overcame a weak first two periods to rally in the third and defeat the Scotians 3-2 in overtime
Cody Roach scored the winner in overtime off a wild scramble in front of Scotians' goalie Adam Roth.
Seth Crowe and Hughie McGuish added assists for the Blues, who fell behind 1-0 after one period and 2-0 after two.
Andrew Brennan and Nathan Lavigne also scored for the Blues, who host the Antignoish Bulldogs in their regular season home finale on Friday at the Richard Calder Arena.
Bavis, Rozak and Ryan Smith added assists for the Blues, who outshot the Scotians 37-30.
Jimmy MacInnis scored both Scotian goals.
