AMHERST - With recent announcements that the province is reducing hours of the Deputy Sheriffs, Amherst is no exception.

Representing the sheriffs, the Nova Scotia General Employees Union has said that two of the employees will see their hours reduced from 90 and 80 per cent to 50 per cent.

Those affected by the reduction have already received notice, however the province has 40 days to make any changes necessary.

Gee Dave maybe we should increase welfare benefits with all the money saved.Hopefully you will never get caught between 2 or more groups of people wanting to get at each other and your only protection is the Sheriff staff. With these cuts you maybe wishing for more staff to intervene not less!

Well it's about time, way to free up a tiny percentage of the non essential funds spent in this province every year.

I hate to say it but the days a dwindling down for an NDP government. They will not be re-elected in NS for a long time to come after all they have done.
