TRURO - Christian Heritage Party Leader Jim Hnatiuk became the first candidate to register for the byelection call in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley recently

"I'm ready to serve the constituents of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley with a strong voice, just as Bill Casey did. I'm proud to live in and serve in a riding where the voters are not afraid to speak with an independent voice, and choose the candidate that will best represent them in Ottawa," the businessman and retired military officer said.
"CHP Canada has policies that would strengthen Cumberland-Colchester-Musqudoboit Valley, and I believe this byelection will be about more than what the major parties have to offer."
Hnatiuk said voters have proven they are willing to look for and choose the candidate who has the best plan for governing.
"Our campaign will be about offering better solutions to the serious issues that face us. There are better ways to do politics in Canada, and I believe voters are ready for those better solutions," said Hnatiuk.
"Voters are going to hear a lot about things like spending, infrastructure, and taxes in the coming weeks, and I want voters to know that there are ways to meet the needs of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley without increasing government debt through deficit spending, and taxing Canadians."
He said taxing Canadians and deficit budgets are not working.
"They're robbing us of our competiveness as a nation, and eroding our standard of living."
The party leader said the CHP would use the Bank of Canada to fund infrastructure needs, so projects could become reality without taxing Canadians today and into the future.
"From what I'm hearing from voters, they want to send a message to Ottawa that they expect their MP to have the best plan for the people - smaller, fiscally responsible government, low taxes, with priority given to the economy."

Sorry Sparky... as well thought out as some of their ideas are (excluding issues such as abortion and same sex rights) I cannot vote for a party who doesn't understand the concept of separation of church and state. Any party with a blatant reference to a specific religion in their name certainly does not understand and is therefore a threat to freedom of choice. You can't have a titled *christian* party who doesn't run a *christian* government without trampling on the rights of *non-christians*.

I do see your point Robert, and have to say with some thought that i agree. Too bad one of the other parties wouldn't adopt a fiscal policy as sensible as this. It's sad really when you think about it.

He's proud to live in and serve this riding ... I pretty sure he lives in Lantz which falls under Scott Brison's riding

It is. Some of their ideas are worth discussion but we've seen far too many times what mixing government and religion does. For too risky...

I am surprised to say this, but i just might have to vote to them. Their fiscal platform is a more reasonable approach, although i don't agree with their pro-life stance. Check them out before you dismiss them!
