TRURO - Scott Armstrong is heading to Ottawa this week but will have to wait a little bit longer before taking his seat in the House of Commons.
"I'm going to caucus Wednesday morning," Armstrong said Monday.
The Conservative candidate won last week's byelection but has not been sworn in yet. He expects to know by Friday when that ceremony will occur. Until that time, he is the member of Parliament-elect and thus will not be in the House.
Armstrong spoke last night in Port Hawkesbury on behalf of the government as the Olympic torch passed through the Strait area.
Today, he will be speaking in Antigonish and Truro as the torch visits those communities.
It is a special moment for Armstrong, who has a long history as a player, coach and sports organizer.
"The Olympics is a very special time. I've always been a big fan of the Olympics," he said.
