County clubs seek high school soccer supremacy

AMHERST - The Amherst Vikettes will be in Cambridge, Kings Co., today seeking a return to the top of Division 2 girls high school soccer.
Fresh off a 3-2 win over Forrest Heights in Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation qualifying action last Saturday, the Vikettes will face Breton Education Centre from New Waterford beginning at 2:15 p.m.
Host Central Kings meets Northeast Kings in the other semifinal with the winners meeting in the gold medal game at noon Saturday.
The two semifinal losers will battle for the bronze medal at 10 a.m.
Amherst enters the four-team final having won the Northumberland Regional banner two weeks ago.
In Division 4 boys play, the Pugwash Panthers are in Halifax, opening at noon against host Sacred Heart.
Pictou Academy faces North Colchester in the second semifinal with the winners meeting in Saturday's final at noon and the losers in the bronze-medal game at 10 a.m.
The Oxford Lady Golden Bears will also be in Halifax competing in the Division 4 girls championship.
Oxford plays at 2:15 p.m., against Cape Breton Highlands with a win propelling them into the provincial final at noon on Saturday.
Pictou Academy and host Armbrae Academy play at noon today. The bronze-medal game is Saturday at 10 a.m.
Both Division 4 tournaments are being played at the Mainland Common all-weather turf fields.
