N.S. fishermen fined $800,000 for selling illegal tuna nine years ago print this article
THE CANADIAN PRESS

HALIFAX — A fishing company in Sambro, N.S., and seven fishermen linked to it must pay more than $800,000 for selling illegal tuna nine years ago.
After unsuccessfully appealing their convictions and fines, the fishermen and Ivy Fisheries Ltd. have been ordered to pay up.
The seven were all convicted in March 2006 on a number of charges under the Fisheries Act, including selling illegally caught fish in 2000.
They appealed their convictions and fines to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and then earlier this year to the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal.
The courts upheld an earlier ruling that found of the 175 tuna the crew landed, 135 were caught illegally.
