Sloan bassist Chris Murphy talks about nearly dying in hit and run

TORONTO — Sloan bassist Chris Murphy says he’s feeling “pretty good” after the summer car accident that left him with a broken collarbone.
Murphy was riding his bicycle in Toronto on July 25th when a driver careened into him, demolishing his bike and leaving him lying unconscious on the ground.
The driver fled the scene and hasn’t been caught.
Murphy tells The Canadian Press that he mostly feels the effects of the injury when he plays bass, because the strap of the instrument hangs across the metal plate he had inserted in his collarbone.
The band will release a new five-song EP called “Hit & Run” tomorrow that Murphy says was actually written before the accident, though the title came afterwards.
Sloan will then launch a 15-date tour next Saturday, with six Canadian dates scheduled for December.
